Maintaining Your Building ...
Initially, our objective would be to help you achieve the standard recommended in Australian Standard 3745 - Emergency Planning in Facilities - 2010. Having done this, there is a requirement to maintain that standard. We would assist as follows: Warden List. At an agreed frequency we would revise the warden list and distribute the new listing to those concerned. The frequency would be determined in consultation with building management and would depend on the size of the building and the turnover of personnel.
Warden Training. Warden training sessions for new wardens would be conducted at an agreed frequency. Records will be maintained of those wardens who have attended training. Trial Evacuation. A trial evacuation should be conducted annually. Every Floor is supervised and "On The Spot" feedback and training is given to wardens. Audits. Periodically we will check that all equipment is in place and recommend any replacements that are required. Quotation. Our quotation will address the ongoing maintenance of your building. |
DOCUMENTATION AND EQUIPMENT:
Training, by nature, is periodic. While ConEvaC staff remain available to provide advice, there is still a requirement for documentation to provide constant access to information within the building. ConEvaC will provide the following documentation in your building: Emergency Planning and Evacuation Procedures Manual. This manual details the specific procedures that apply in your building. An outline of the structure of this manual is attached. This manual is issued to each Floor Warden, and a second copy is located in the major fire hydrant cupboard on each floor. Additional copies are issued to the Chief Warden and the Building Owner/Manager.
Emergency Warden List. A list of all wardens, showing key contact telephone numbers, is maintained for each building. This is issued to all key personnel and is maintained on a periodic basis. (The frequency of revision will vary in accordance with the nature of the building and will be determined in consultation with the Building Owner/Manager). Evacuation Diagrams. ConEvaC recommends that evacuation diagrams be located on each floor. These notice boards include details of emergency procedures, assembly areas and key emergency contact numbers, and they act as a frequent reminder to all staff of the existence of emergency procedures in the building.
Emergency Procedures Booklets. ConEvaC recommends that an emergency booklet be issued to all staff highlighting their responsibilities in an emergency. Handouts. At each presentation, wardens in attendance will be issued with a handout outlining their responsibilities. Bomb Threat Cards. Bomb Threat cards will be distributed throughout the building. Invitations. To ensure that personnel are aware of procedures letters of invitation are issued for all training sessions and trial evacuations. Examples of warden and evacuation training letters are available should you wish to see their content. Safety Hats. For identification AS 3745 requires that wardens be issued coloured safety helmets. We recommend that these be stored in fire hydrant cupboards and we can provide and install the appropriate helmets if required. Reports. Reports are provided to building
owner/managers of all training conducted in the building. Sample reports
are available at request. |
